Mindful Mutts
A Mindful Approach To Dog Ownership

Recall Workshops

There are few things more valuable than a reliable recall. It's the skill that gives your dog the freedom to explore, sniff, play and simply enjoy being a dog, while giving you the confidence that they'll come back when it really matters.

Whether you've got a brand-new puppy, an excitable adolescent, an older rescue, or a dog who's decided that squirrels are more interesting than you, our Recall Workshops are designed to help.

No matter your dog's age, breed or experience level, you're welcome.

A Safe Place to Learn

These workshops aren't about perfection. They're about understanding why dogs don't always come back, learning practical techniques that actually make sense, and building a recall your dog genuinely wants to respond to.

We'll work at your dog's pace in a relaxed, supportive environment where nobody is judged. Every dog is different, every owner is on their own journey, and everyone starts somewhere.

Your dog doesn't need to be "good enough" before they come. That's what the workshop is for.

Dogs Are Allowed to Be Dogs

We don't expect robots.

Dogs get distracted. They sniff. They make mistakes. Sometimes they'll completely ignore us because a fascinating smell has suddenly appeared in the grass. That's normal.

Rather than fighting those natural behaviours, we'll show you how to work with them and build a recall that's based on trust, motivation and plenty of success.

What We'll Cover

  • Building a recall your dog enjoys responding to.
  • Creating value in staying connected with you.
  • Managing distractions without frustration.
  • Using rewards effectively.
  • Long-line handling and safe practice.
  • Gradually increasing difficulty and reliability.
  • Knowing when your dog is ready for more freedom.

Everything is explained in plain English, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and practise.

What You'll Need

  • A long line (not a retractable lead).
  • A comfortable harness (preferred for long-line work).
  • Lots of really high-value treats that your dog absolutely loves.
  • A sense of humour and a willingness to learn alongside your dog.

If you're unsure about equipment, just ask—we're always happy to help.

More Freedom. More Confidence.

A dependable recall isn't just about obedience. It's about giving your dog more opportunities to enjoy life safely, while giving you the confidence to let them explore without constantly worrying.

Whether you're starting from scratch or polishing an existing recall, our workshops will give you practical skills you can use every day.

Come along, meet like-minded dog owners, have some fun, and discover that recall training doesn't have to be stressful.
